On our way to Cusco from Lima the photo-frenzy began. The clouds were so beautiful and so close that I had to take a picture (or 30).

After landing and traveling through the city to our hotel, we were all served coca leaf tea (coca as in the plant used to make cocaine). Apparently, it's given to tourists to help with the altitude sickness-the city is about 10,000 feet above sea level. I don't know if it really helped, but I drank like 5-6 cups a day during during our stay. I thought about bringing some hojas de coca back with me, but thought again after remembering the police dogs roaming the Lima airport. Maybe another visit.

Our first night on the town, we ate at the INCA WALL dinner theater and enjoyed some folkcloric music and dance. Quality, quality. Then Renee, Anthony, Alan, and I hung around the Plaza de Armas. And as we know - there's ALWAYS time for a picture. Somehow we all matched - a little strange - but only reason for more fotos.

We spent our second day checking up on the Incan ruins in the area. At Saqsaywaman (ironically pronounced like "sexy woman"), Michelle and I busted out the cameras once again.

I'm glad you didn't try to bring any Coca Tea back with you! Extraordinary composition.
Sarah,
Enjoyed the pics and your commentary. We miss you, but are so happy that you have this opportunity to explore new places, meet new friends, and make many wonderful memories.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Loving the new "doo" and the pics. Wow, maybe we should rethink the 11 hour flight over Spring Break....we were thinking of coming down with your folks. But, we are tired and old and 11 hours in a little airplane seat.....
Have had a hard day - I could go for a little of that Coco Tea!
Sounds like you are having a ball. You really are going to college...right? Connie
Sarah,
I think that all this fun doesn't sound much like the hard work and study that your dad and I had to do when we were in college. We went to school during the day worked at night, worked double shifts on the weekends and then spent the rest of our time keeping our wives happy. You know how big of a job that can be.
Enjoy your college moments; they are very precious and you will remember them the rest of your life.
Uncle Alan
Sarah, thanks so much for the pictures. I feel like I've just had a mini vacation (guess I will have to be content to live vicariously through you!!) I agree with Connie, I could go for some of that tea right now, too!
Love you, and can't wait to see you this summer.

P.S. I love your hair!

Sarah,
Wonder if you will be home Memorial Day weekend (May 28) The aunties are in Eau Claire and brain-storming about a get-together for grand-pappy's 80th birthday. You would have loved to see him today, all decked out in his new cowboy hat, boots and a great looking brown duster!!
We are thinking of having the entire family together in Eau Claire for the birthday celebration. I talked to Kelly today, and he thinks he, Leslie, and Carter could come as well.
Let us know your eta so we can finalize plans!
